FAQs
What do I get with my kitten?
When you adopt a kitten from Sphinx Kitten Home, you’ll receive a comprehensive kitten care package that includes two sweaters, toys, and treats. Additionally, we’ll provide you with a three-generation pedigree lineage for your kitten, and if you choose to register your kitten with TICA, we’ll give you the necessary information to do so. We also offer a three-year guarantee against congenital defects and HCM, as well as lifetime support. We love getting updates on our cats and encourage you to share pictures and videos with us. If you have any questions or concerns, we’re always available to help.
Do you offer stud services or sell cats for breeding purposes?
No, we don’t offer stud services or sell cats for breeding purposes. Our cattery is closed to protect the health of our kittens.
What medical testing do I need to do on my Sphynx?
Immunizations are crucial for your kitten’s health, but it’s important to find a veterinarian who is familiar with the Sphynx breed since they can have adverse reactions to certain vaccines. We recommend four FVRCP and one rabies vaccination during the first year of your kitten’s life, and annual FVRCP and rabies vaccinations for life. However, we advise against vaccinating your kitten for FIP, ringworm, or Giardia, and we do not offer any warranty for adverse reactions to these or any other future vaccinations. It’s also required that all current cats in your home be combo tested for FIV/Leukemia before bringing in your new Sphynx kitten. An annual echocardiogram is strongly recommended to identify HCM in your cat. Although we scan our breeding cats annually and breed selectively, HCM is inherent in the Sphynx breed.
Do you have an outcrossing program?
Yes, we have a tailored outcrossing program that adds diversity to the Sphynx gene pool. Our program only uses specific breeds that are approved by TICA.
What do I do if my cat gets sick?
We guarantee our kittens for 48 hours after pick-up and until the age of three for life-threatening congenital defects, including HCM. If your cat gets sick, please contact us right away. However, after the 48-hour health check, you’re responsible for any illness your cat may develop. The breeder cannot be held accountable for future diagnoses of FeL/FIV or any other bacterial, viral, infectious diseases, or parasites that may be contracted outside the cattery.
How do I know you’re a legitimate breeder?
It’s essential to do your research and be wary of scammers when purchasing a kitten. We’re a registered cattery with TICA, and our website is linked to our TICA registration. We advise against purchasing a kitten from a cattery that isn’t registered with TICA, doesn’t HCM annually scan their cats, and won’t do a FaceTime call. Scammers can be sophisticated and will go to great lengths to deceive you, so be cautious if the price seems too cheap or if the cattery is asking for money via Western Union. Kittens should be produced in their own cattery with genetic testing, HCM scans, HCM gene testing, and TICA registration.
